Experience the wonderful beauty of Transcona, a suburb of Winnipeg that is located 10 kms east of the downtown area. It is mainly a residential area for the working class and comprises no heavy industries as the area is not much associated with commercial purposes but some light industries are situated here.
Transcona was founded in the year 1909 and its name was derived from the combination of Transcontinental and Strathcona, name of Donald Smith, Lord Strathcona who was accredited of building the first railway of Canada. Though known as a working class residential area, Transcona is known for producing several minor celebrities in the field of sports and athletes.
